Hollywood Heist Awaits: Original Cast Members Including Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle Set to Reunite for Highly Anticipated Sequel
Danny Ocean is officially getting his crew back together. Actor George Clooney, 64, has confirmed that a new installment in the beloved heist franchise, tentatively titled Ocean's 14, is moving forward with a budget already approved by Warner Bros. The eagerly awaited sequel is aiming to commence shooting in approximately nine to ten months, as revealed by Clooney in a recent interview with E! News.
The Oscar-winning star indicated that key members of the original Ocean's Eleven ensemble are slated to rejoin him. This includes Academy Award winners Julia Roberts, 57, Brad Pitt, 61, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle. Clooney expressed his enthusiasm for the reunion, telling E!, “Yeah, Brad, Matt and Don and Julia. I had dinner last last night with Julia. They're all still really dear friends. And so, the chance to work together would be fun.”
The original Ocean's trilogy, directed by Steven Soderbergh, captivated audiences with its slick storytelling and all-star cast. The franchise began with the highly successful Ocean's Eleven in 2001, a remake of the 1960 film featuring the iconic Rat Pack. It was followed by Ocean's Twelve in 2004 and Ocean's Thirteen in 2007. Clooney starred as the charismatic mastermind thief Danny Ocean, with Pitt as Rusty Ryan, Damon as Linus Caldwell, and Cheadle as Basher Tarr. Julia Roberts played Danny's estranged wife, Tess Ocean, appearing in the first two films.
The upcoming film reportedly has a “great” script, a detail Clooney shared with Uproxxx in 2023. Variety reported in January that David Leitch, known for his work on The Fall Guy, is attached to direct the new installment, bringing a fresh perspective to the franchise.
This new chapter expands the Ocean's cinematic universe, which also saw the release of the spin-off Ocean's 8 in 2018. That film featured an all-female led cast including Sandra Bullock as Danny Ocean's sister, Debbie Ocean, alongside Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Mindy Kaling, and Anne Hathaway. Additionally, a prequel film centered on Danny Ocean's parents is reportedly in development, with Margot Robbie set to produce and star alongside Ryan Gosling.
While fans await the return of the Ocean's crew, George Clooney is also set to star in Noah Baumbach’s upcoming film Jay Kelly, which will premiere in theaters on November 14 and be available for streaming on Netflix starting December 5.
