Prosecutors in Clark County have accused the 49-year-old former five-division world champion of theft and drawing and passing a check without sufficient funds with the intent to defraud. These charges stem from the acquisition of a luxury watch.
Filed in April, the charges allege that in December 2024, Mayweather used a Wells Fargo Bank check for a staggering $200,000 to purchase a high-end timepiece from Gold and Beyond, an upscale designer resale store in Las Vegas. However, court records indicate that the account had insufficient funds to cover the substantial purchase, leading to these serious criminal allegations.
Upcoming Court Proceedings
Mayweather, who turned 49 this year, was scheduled for an initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court on Monday. Although he was not physically present, an attorney represented him. The case is now slated for a follow-up hearing in September, where further legal proceedings are expected to unfold.

These felony charges are not an isolated incident for the celebrated boxer. Mayweather has recently been entangled in a series of legal and financial disputes. Earlier this year, he was sued in New York for allegedly failing to pay rent on a Manhattan apartment.
