The incident, which occurred at the sprawling Leavesden Studios in Watford, approximately 20 miles northwest of London, has led to a temporary halt in production as Holland takes several days to recover.
Sources close to The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the injury and the necessary break. The actor was reportedly taken to a local hospital for assessment following a fall during a sequence. Leavesden Studios, a renowned hub for major cinematic productions, is currently the primary filming location for the highly anticipated fourth installment of Holland’s Spider-Man saga.
The news was further corroborated by Holland’s father, Dominic Holland, who addressed the press at a charity dinner on Sunday, September 21. According to the Daily Mail, Dominic shared that his son would be stepping away from filming “for a while,” indicating the seriousness of the injury despite its “mild” classification. Representatives for Holland have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
Remarkably, just one day after the on-set accident, Holland made a public appearance alongside his fiancée, Zendaya, also 29, to co-host a Posh Pub Quiz event. The star-studded gathering, held at the prestigious Christie’s auction house in London on Saturday, September 20, supported The Brothers Trust—a charity run by Holland and his three brothers. The event specifically benefited Java Joy, an organization dedicated to creating meaningful employment opportunities for adults with disabilities, showcasing Holland’s commitment to his philanthropic endeavors even amidst a personal health setback.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day was officially announced by Sony Pictures at CinemaCon 2025 in April, following Holland’s confirmation earlier in the year that his fourth solo outing as the iconic web-slinger would commence filming in 2025. Production kicked off in early August, with Holland and Zendaya photographed on set in London. Holland later shared an Instagram video on August 10, marking his first day of filming the sequel in Scotland, and has since been spotted at various filming locations across the U.K.
