Martha Stewart Unveils Elm Biosciences: A New Era in Clinical Skincare

NEW YORK, NY — Lifestyle icon Martha Stewart, at 84 years young, is making a significant foray into the beauty industry with the official launch of Elm Biosciences, a new clinical skincare line co-founded with board-certified dermatologist Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali.

The highly anticipated brand, unveiled on Monday, August 4, after half a decade of intensive research and development, promises a “dual-pathway system” designed to address the multifaceted drivers of aging from both internal and external perspectives. This scientific backing is further solidified by the endorsement of over 350 dermatologist advisors who contributed to its formulation.

The Dual-Pathway System: Products and Philosophy

Elm Biosciences debuts with two cornerstone products: the A3O™ Elemental Serum, priced at $135, and the Inner Dose™ Daily Skin Supplement, available for $50. The A3O™ Elemental Serum is an antioxidant powerhouse featuring the proprietary A3O complex, specifically engineered to combat visible signs of aging such as dehydration, irritation, and damage from UV exposure. Complementing this topical treatment, the Inner Dose™ Daily Skin Supplement comes in capsule form and works from within to target internal factors like hormonal imbalance, inflammation, and oxidative stress.

Stewart’s Personal Journey and Endorsement

Stewart shared her personal journey and rigorous testing of the products. “I set out years ago to take care of my skin,” she stated in a press release. “Along the way, I met Dr. Bhanusali, and we started doing our research and development to create a skincare line unlike any other. I have been using our products for the last five years in all developmental iterations, and I must say I am extremely pleased with the results.” She revealed to The Wall Street Journal that she has used the line “religiously for quite a while now,” a testament to her belief in its efficacy.

Innovation from Lab to Consumer

Dr. Bhanusali emphasized the brand’s innovative spirit, noting, “Elm was created to solve a clear problem: the science has evolved, but most skincare hasn’t. Our goal is to bring novel molecules and complexes to skincare that reset the expectations we have for what products can do. While Martha has always led in ‘farm to table’, Elm is our answer to ‘lab to consumer.’”

Beyond Anti-Aging: Promoting Prolonged Skin Health

For Stewart, the line is about promoting healthy, prolonged skin health rather than a mere “anti-aging” narrative. “Elm Biosciences is targeted to a very broad audience. Cells die. Skin ages. We’re aging the minute we’re born,” Stewart explained to The Wall Street Journal. “So you have many opportunities to kind of halt that, or to at least prolong the health of your skin. And that’s what we’re trying to do here.” This philosophy aligns with her earlier statements to PEOPLE in 2024, where she advocated for wellness and activities that extend a healthy life, rather than focusing on “anti-aging.”

A Holistic Approach to Well-being

Reflecting on her holistic approach to well-being, Stewart shared with QVC’s Quintessential 50 collective, “I try to live a very healthy life. I eat extremely well. I take care of myself. I go to the gym no matter what, four times a week. I take care of my skin very, very well, and everybody can do that. It’s not like I spend a fortune on any of that stuff, but I managed to do it because it’s going to make a difference and I’m going to live longer and healthier.”

The Road Ahead

The collaboration between Stewart and Dr. Bhanusali began seven years ago when they “hit it off,” eventually leading to the five-year development cycle for Elm Biosciences. The new line is set to officially arrive in September, poised to offer consumers a clinically-backed solution for maintaining youthful and healthy skin.
