Hollywood Hills, CA – Comedian and actor Joel Kim Booster, 37, has revealed a playful twist in his upcoming New Year’s wedding to fiancé John-Michael Sudsina, announcing that his Loot co-star, the Emmy-winning Maya Rudolph, 53, will serve as his flower girl. The light-hearted revelation came during a press junket for the third season of their Apple TV+ comedy series on Wednesday, October 8.
Booster, known for his sharp wit and comedic timing, shared the news with PEOPLE, jokingly detailing Rudolph’s unique ceremonial duty. “Maya’s my flower girl,” Booster quipped. “Um, yeah. She will be leading and making sure that the ground is pure enough for me and my virgin body to walk down the aisle. That’s important… Very, very important. Virgins only. Yes.” The humorous exchange highlights the close bond between the two actors, who portray Nicholas and Molly on Loot, a series that premiered in June 2022 and follows a billionaire divorcée (Rudolph) navigating her charitable foundation with the help of her eccentric staff, including Booster’s character.
A Deep Friendship Forged On and Off Screen
Beyond their on-screen collaboration, Booster and Rudolph have cultivated a deep off-screen friendship. Booster credits Rudolph with offering invaluable advice, particularly during the early stages of his relationship with Sudsina. “We spend a lot of time together,” Booster told PEOPLE, “I think it’s been really wonderful to not only just like get to be friends with Maya, but also learn from Maya.” He elaborated on her influence, stating, “I think like that’s the biggest thing I’ve learned from Maya is, like, the ability to make these big, bold choices without fear and without fear of looking stupid or it being wrong or whatever, but just like going for those big choices. And she also early, early days talked me through my relationship.”

Rudolph, a talented singer who performs in the Prince cover band “Princess” with Gretchen Lieberum, also teased the possibility of a musical contribution. While she acknowledged a common request to sing at weddings, Booster enthusiastically added, “I thought Princess would be dope,” hinting at a potential performance by her acclaimed band at the reception.

He previously told PEOPLE, “It’s where I fell in love.” The choice of location, he noted, serves as “just enough of a destination that it filters out people that don’t want to be there, but not too big a barrier that it’s hard to get to.”

Further adding to the star-studded guest list, Booster’s former Fire Island costars, Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, are confirmed to be part of the wedding party. The comedic duo is set to deliver a joint toast at the reception, a moment Booster anticipates with both excitement and a touch of humorous apprehension. “I set them off on that project and I have no idea what it will be, but I’m sure it will be insane either way,” he shared.
