Tyrese Gibson Arrested on Animal Cruelty Charge Following Tragic Dog Attack
Hollywood actor Tyrese Gibson, 46, was arrested on Friday, October 3, at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia, facing one count of cruelty to animals. The arrest follows a tragic incident weeks prior where his four mastiff dogs allegedly mauled his neighbor’s beloved pet to death, escalating a month-long legal saga.

The Tragic Incident Unfolds
The incident, which sparked a police investigation, reportedly occurred last month when one or more of Gibson’s large mastiffs breached their enclosure and attacked a neighbor’s 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Henry. According to court documents cited by local outlet WSB-TV 2, Henry suffered severe internal bleeding and multiple puncture wounds, leading to his death. Harrison Parker, Henry’s owner, recounted the devastating discovery to WSB-TV 2, stating he had let Henry out into his yard, which was secured by an invisible fence, only to return minutes later and find his “sweetest dog dead in my driveway.”
Investigation and Arrest
Authorities swiftly responded to the complaint. On September 22, a search warrant was issued for Gibson’s property. However, at the time of the search, both the actor and his dogs were reportedly absent from the residence, as previously reported by Fox 5 Atlanta. Subsequently, an arrest warrant for Gibson was issued on the same day, charging him with misdemeanor animal cruelty.

Despite the warrant being in effect, Gibson did not immediately turn himself in. Fulton County Police Captain Nicole Dwyer confirmed to PEOPLE that Gibson had been aware of the warrant for “over a week” before his eventual surrender, noting that he was “getting his affairs in order.”
Gibson finally turned himself in on October 3. He was booked and later released from custody after posting a $20,000 bond. Following the incident and prior to his arrest, Gibson’s attorney, Gabe Banks, issued a statement to PEOPLE, confirming the actor’s cooperation with authorities. Banks also conveyed Gibson’s “deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home.” Furthermore, Gibson has since rehomed his four mastiffs, a decision made in the wake of the fatal attack.
Emotional Toll and Ongoing Legal Battle
For Harrison Parker, the emotional toll of losing Henry remains profound. “Not hearing him around, it’s just awful,” Parker shared with WSB-TV 2, adding, “He was one of the sweetest dogs, and to have him get murdered, it’s indescribable.” The legal proceedings against the Fast & Furious star are expected to continue as the community grapples with the devastating loss of a family pet.
