The initial nuptials took place on Saturday, July 19, at the historic Hackney Town Hall in London. This intimate gathering saw approximately 20 close friends and family members witness the pair exchange vows, including Charli’s parents and Daniel’s bandmates, Ross MacDonald and Adam Hann. A source close to the couple exclusively told PEOPLE shortly after the event that the London ceremony was intentionally low-key, designed to be “special and personal, but not over-the-top.” The insider added, “They have such playful energy as a couple. It was the most fun celebration.”
However, this was merely the prelude to a much larger vision. “The party’s just getting started,” the source revealed in July. “They have a larger celebration planned for Sicily. They’ve always dreamed of a big party in Italy. Somewhere beautiful and private, where all their friends can let loose. It will be star-studded. This was always the plan. London was the official wedding, but a big event is happening too and it will be epic.”
Now, that dream is materializing. Charli XCX confirmed their arrival in Italy on Thursday, September 11, with an Instagram post excitedly captioned “bellaaaaaaaaaaaaa” and geotagged in Sicily. The pop star shared 15 vibrant photos and one video, giving fans a glimpse into the joyful pre-wedding festivities. The images capture the couple and their guests exploring charming streets, appreciating local artwork, and, notably, a video shows Charli and Daniel dancing together in an ornate ballroom, radiating happiness.
The guest list for the Sicilian celebration includes a host of notable figures from the couple’s inner circle. Among those pictured enjoying the Italian escapade are The 1975 frontman Matty Healy’s fiancée, model Gabbriette Bechtel; influencer and entrepreneur Devon Lee Carlson; art director and production designer Liam Moore; screenwriter and director Drew Pearce; and interior designer Georgia May Somary.
