In an interview with Entertainment Weekly published on Tuesday, August 12, 2024, Bruckheimer, 81, revealed that Depp’s participation hinges on a critical condition: the quality of the script.
“If he likes the way the part’s written, I think he would do it,” Bruckheimer stated, emphasizing that for an actor of Depp’s caliber, “It’s all about what’s on the page, as we all know.” The pursuit of that perfect narrative is reportedly well underway, though not yet complete. “We just got to get the right screenplay,” the acclaimed producer added. “We haven’t quite gotten there yet, but we’re close.”
