Big Brother Alum Ovi Kabir Weds Hannah Blackwell in Enchanting Multicultural Celebration

Big Brother Alum Ovi Kabir Marries Hannah Blackwell in “Dream Fusion” Wedding

Big Brother season 21 fan favorite Ovi Kabir, 27, exchanged vows with his longtime girlfriend, content creator Hannah Claire Blackwell, 26, in a “dream fusion” wedding held over two days in picturesque Sevierville, Tennessee. The celebration, which commenced on August 1st with a vibrant Bangladeshi Gaye Holud ceremony and culminated in a romantic American wedding on August 2nd, symbolized the eight-and-a-half-year journey of love and the beautiful blending of their respective cultures.

A Vibrant Bangladeshi Celebration

The festivities commenced on Friday, August 1st, at The Glass House at Nichols Heir with a lively Gaye Holud. This traditional Bangladeshi pre-wedding celebration, rich with joyful music, spirited dancing, and purifying turmeric blessings, offered a captivating introduction to Kabir’s heritage for many of the 190 guests. Among the notable attendees were several “Big Brother” alums, including Tommy Bracco, Kat Dunn, Cliff Hogg, and Nicole Fontanez (Anthony). The couple, adorned in traditional panjabis and lehengas, shared practices like Mehndi (henna artistry), making the cultural exchange a highlight for attendees experiencing these traditions for the first time.

A Romantic American Ceremony Amidst the Smokies

The following day, Saturday, August 2nd, the focus shifted to the “richly romantic” American wedding held in the Grand Hall of the same venue. Thoughtful elements of Kabir’s culture were subtly woven into an aesthetic described as “vibrant romance meets modern garden party.” The choice of Sevierville, nestled amidst the majestic Great Smoky Mountains, held profound significance for the couple. “East Tennessee and the Smoky Mountains are the birthplace of our love story,” they shared, reflecting on their initial meeting at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and the countless memories forged in the region over nearly a decade.

Guests were ushered down a whimsical floral-lined aisle, leading to an altar adorned with an asymmetrical, organic installation of soft pink and purple blooms, perfectly framed by the natural forest backdrop and a stunning view of the mountains. The ceremony’s soundtrack was deeply personal: Kabir’s family processed to Yoko Shimomura’s “Dearly Beloved,” a nostalgic nod to his favorite childhood game, Kingdom Hearts. The wedding party followed to the “Andante Maestoso” section from the Pas de deux in Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, Op. 71, a piece Blackwell cherished from “Barbie in The Nutcracker.” Breaking from tradition, Blackwell walked down the aisle alone, a powerful statement of her equal partnership with Kabir, to the “magical” strains of Patrick Doyle’s “Harry in Winter” from “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” Even their beloved pet corgi, Mowgli, participated, charming guests in a custom mini tuxedo. As the couple exchanged heartfelt, handwritten vows under the pavilion, a gentle rain began to fall — a serendipitous moment that, in Bangladeshi wedding tradition, symbolizes a profound blessing, signifying that everything was precisely as it was meant to be.

Exquisite Attire and Dazzling Details

For her walk down the aisle, Blackwell felt “like a true princess” in Wona Concept’s “Devotion” gown, a corseted design with delicate lace sleeves that she first saw debut during New York Bridal Fashion Week the previous fall. She accessorized her timeless look with a custom cathedral-length veil featuring a lace-trimmed blusher and exquisite Verstolo jewelry. Kabir and his groomsmen were impeccably dressed by Friar Tux, with Kabir distinguishing himself in a sharp white coat paired with black pants, while his groomsmen wore classic black suits. The bridesmaids expressed their individual styles in a spectrum of differently colored and textured Mac Duggal gowns. Later in the evening, Blackwell transitioned into a “glamorous, South Asian style” second look, inspired by a saree and designed by Thailand-based GL GarlateDesign, a fitting tribute to the cross-cultural celebration.

A Feast and Festivities to Remember

The Grand Hall transformed into a luminous reception space, bathed in soft candlelight and adorned with pastel roses, clematis, lisianthus, and trailing greenery. Guests were seated at long tables draped in romantic floral linens from BBJ La Tavola, preparing for a culinary journey that perfectly mirrored the couple’s fusion of cultures. The vibrant spread featured a rich array of traditional Indian dishes, including butter chicken and flavorful goat curry, alongside beloved Southern American favorites such as crispy fried chicken and warm, buttery cornbread. Desserts were equally diverse, offering a three-tiered wedding cake, classic, chocolate, and banoffee bread puddings, and two authentic Bangladeshi sweets: gulab jamun (soft, deep-fried dough balls traditionally made from khoya) and kheer (a creamy rice pudding). The dance floor came alive with beats from DJ Dunny (Shawn Dunbar), culminating in an “unforgettable set” by King Ghoul, an alternative rock band fronted by Andy Allen, one of the groom’s closest high school friends. The newlyweds shared their first dance to Panic! At The Disco’s “The End of All Things.”

From College Sweethearts to Forever

Kabir and Blackwell first crossed paths at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville eight and a half years ago. Their love story began with a memorable exchange: after an initial class-wide invitation to study sessions, Kabir sent a more personal follow-up email to Blackwell, humorously signing off as “the Brown boy who sits behind you in Hawaiian shirts every day.” Hours before a final exam, Blackwell finally attended a session, where the two quickly bonded over everything but their studies. Their first date, a charmingly humble affair at Waffle House where Kabir famously had only $10.13 left in his bank account, laid the foundation for their enduring connection. Years later, in February 2024, Kabir formally proposed to Blackwell on a picturesque cobblestone path in Boston, leading to this momentous occasion.

A Love Cemented and a Future Bright

Reflecting on their union, Blackwell shared with PEOPLE, “All I want is to keep living the life I’ve been living over the last eight and a half years with Ovi. It just means so much to finally cement that in front of all of our family and friends and do it in a way that fuses our cultures.” Kabir echoed her sentiments, stating, “To me, this marriage is more than a celebration. It’s a stamp of affirmation. It’s the moment the words ‘I love you’ that I’ve said to her again and again are now written into history for all to see.” He admires Blackwell’s “relentless pursuit of happiness” and her proactive approach to life. The ceremony was officiated by the couple’s college friend, Don Black, and included personal reflections from Kabir’s brother, Ontor, and Blackwell’s brother-in-law, Adam Kemper.

The newlyweds are embarking on a week-long honeymoon at the luxurious Conrad Punta de Mita in Mexico. Afterward, they plan to settle into a permanent home in the Southeast, ideally in Tennessee. Fans can look forward to their new show, “What’s Cookin’,” airing on Food Network and streaming on HBO Max this fall, promising a glimpse into their life together.
