Chris Pratt Celebrates Daughter Lyla’s Fifth Birthday with Enchanting Mermaid Party Plans
New York, NY – Hollywood star Chris Pratt, 46, known for his roles in blockbusters like Guardians of the Galaxy, is shifting his focus from cinematic adventures to a heartwarming family celebration. At the red carpet premiere of his upcoming Amazon MGM Studios series, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, in New York City on Monday, August 4, Pratt revealed his elaborate plans for his eldest daughter, Lyla Maria Schwarzenegger Pratt, who turns five on August 6.

Pratt enthusiastically shared that Lyla, his daughter with wife Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt, is “into mermaids right now” and “loves to swim,” making a fantastical “mermaid party” the natural choice for her fifth birthday bash. With a playful glint in his eye, the proud father even quipped about potential attractions: “It’ll be a big party. I think we’re gonna have a petting zoo and real mermaids,” suggesting a truly immersive experience for the birthday girl.

The Guardians of the Galaxy leading man confirmed he had already secured a special present for Lyla during his New York visit. Demonstrating his commitment to all his children, he added, “I also got her sister something, and both of her brothers also will be getting something.” This refers to his two younger children with Katherine, Eloise Christina, 3, and Ford, 8 months, as well as his 12-year-old son, Jack, from his previous marriage to Anna Faris.

When it comes to thoughtful gift-giving, Pratt admits he draws inspiration from a true master: his father-in-law, the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger, 78. During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Pratt recounted Schwarzenegger’s unparalleled ability to craft personalized gifts. “He’s so good at giving us personalized gifts, like quilts with our faces,” Pratt shared. He highlighted a particularly memorable Mother’s Day gesture where Schwarzenegger orchestrated a painting party for the children, resulting in a unique handprint bouquet for Katherine. “I was like, ‘How am I gonna top that?’ ” Pratt joked, showcasing his admiration for Schwarzenegger’s creativity.
Lyla, born on August 6, 2020, has largely been kept out of the public eye by her parents. Pratt often speaks about his parenting philosophy, emphasizing one core principle: “show up.” As he articulated on Today, “I think as long as you’re present, you kinda can’t go wrong. You’re gonna mess up. You’re not gonna get it right, but you were there, and I think that ends up being important to adults when they grow up and they look back on their childhood, is, ‘Hey, my dad was there, and that’s a good thing.’ ”
Despite a demanding schedule that includes filming for The Terminal List: Dark Wolf and the second season of The Terminal List, Pratt underscored his dedication to family. He expressed profound gratitude for Katherine “holding down the fort” and affirmed his commitment to fully “enjoy” every moment with his children during his breaks.
Fans eager to see Pratt back in action can catch The Terminal List: Dark Wolf when it premieres exclusively on Prime Video on Wednesday, August 27.
