Legendary singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks, 77, has announced the postponement of her upcoming August and September tour dates, citing a fractured shoulder that requires recovery time. The “Dreams” vocalist shared the news via a statement on her Instagram account on Friday, August 1, disappointing fans but assuring them of her return to the stage.
The two-month hiatus will affect several major North American cities, including Detroit, Toronto, Brooklyn, Cincinnati, and Tampa. According to the official statement, Nicks is expected to resume her highly anticipated tour on Wednesday, October 1, with a show in Portland, Oregon. Ticketholders for the postponed concerts are advised to retain their current tickets, as all previously purchased passes will be honored for the rescheduled dates. “Stevie looks forward to seeing everyone soon and apologizes to the fans for this inconvenience,” the statement concluded, acknowledging the impact on her dedicated fanbase who swiftly flooded social media with messages of support and well wishes for her swift recovery.
This tour interruption comes just weeks before another significant event for Nicks and her longtime musical partner, Lindsey Buckingham, 75. The iconic duo, known as Buckingham Nicks before their Fleetwood Mac fame, are set to reissue their eponymous 1973 debut album. The re-release, a highly anticipated event for fans, is scheduled for September 19. The pair had previously teased the project by posting coordinating lyrics from their 1973 track “Frozen Love” on Instagram, sparking widespread excitement among their followers regarding what many hoped would be a renewed collaboration.
Adding to the buzz surrounding her prolific career, Nicks revealed earlier this year that she is actively working on her 14th solo album. During her induction into the Pollstar Hall of Fame in April, the “Landslide” singer referred to the upcoming project as her “ghost record.” She shared that the creative process for this deeply personal work began under unusual circumstances: “It just really kinda happened in the last couple of weeks because of, you know, the fires,” she explained, alluding to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires that forced her to evacuate in January. Nicks spent “92 days” in a hotel, a period she described as feeling “like I’m on the road, but there’s no shows.” This solitary time prompted her to return to songwriting. So far, she has completed seven songs for the album, which she promises will be “autobiographical, real stories where I’m not pulling any punches for probably the first time in my life.” She emphasized, “They are not airy-fairy songs that you are wondering who they’re about but you don’t really get it. They’re real stories of memories of mine, of fantastic men!”
