Trump Claims Epstein “Stole” Virginia Giuffre and Other Employees from Mar-a-Lago Spa
Former President Donald Trump has reignited discussions surrounding his past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, asserting that Epstein “stole” employees, including the late Virginia Giuffre, from his Mar-a-Lago spa in Florida. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, July 29, Trump elaborated on previous weekend comments, painting a picture of a fallout rooted in Epstein’s alleged practice of poaching staff from his exclusive private club.
Trump recounted a direct confrontation with Epstein over the alleged recruitment. “He took people that worked for me,” Trump stated, adding, “And I told him, ‘Don’t do it anymore.’ And he did it.” According to Trump, this defiance led him to bar Epstein from Mar-a-Lago, a sprawling estate in Palm Beach known for its lavish amenities. “I said, ‘Stay the hell out of here,’ ” Trump recalled, emphasizing that many of the individuals allegedly targeted were young women working in the club’s spa. When directly questioned about Virginia Giuffre, a prominent accuser of Epstein, Trump responded, “I think she worked at the spa… I think so. I think that was one of the people. He stole her, and by the way, she had no complaints about us, as you know, none whatsoever.”
Sources with direct knowledge of the matter have since corroborated Giuffre’s employment, confirming to PEOPLE that she indeed worked in the Mar-a-Lago spa during the summer of 2000. This revelation adds another layer to the complex history between Trump and Epstein, a relationship White House communications director Steven Cheung recently described by saying Trump had booted Epstein “for being a creep.”
Virginia Giuffre, who tragically died by suicide on April 25 at her home in the suburbs of Perth, Australia, at the age of 41, became a central figure in the Epstein scandal. For years, she bravely brought forth allegations of sexual abuse against Epstein and, notably, against Prince Andrew, Duke of York. Prince Andrew has consistently denied these allegations. Giuffre’s testimony and public advocacy were crucial in shining a light on the vast network of exploitation allegedly facilitated by Epstein.
Jeffrey Epstein, a disgraced financier, was 66 when he was found hanging inside a jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City on the morning of August 10, 2019. His death was officially ruled a suicide. At the time of his death, Epstein was awaiting trial on federal conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, accusations that involved the abuse of numerous underage girls over decades.
