Josh Groban Praises Barbra Streisand’s Enduring Influence and Collaborative Spirit on New Album
LOS ANGELES – Multi-platinum vocalist Josh Groban recently offered a profound insight into his ongoing musical journey with none other than Barbra Streisand, affirming that every shared moment with the iconic superstar is a cherished learning experience. Speaking to PEOPLE at the Only Make Believe Gala at the Shubert Theater on October 13, 2025, Groban reflected on their latest duet, “Where Do I Go From You?”, featured on Streisand’s much-anticipated 2025 album, The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume 2.

The new album, which debuted on June 27, 2025, marks another significant chapter in the storied career of the EGOT-winning artist. For Groban, whose career spans over two decades, working with Streisand is akin to an ongoing masterclass. “Having Barbra’s support and every time she’s asked, it’s just been an immediate opportunity for me to learn something new from this absolute legend, this master of her craft,” Groban told PEOPLE.
Their recent collaboration on “Where Do I Go From You?” is not their first foray into shared musical artistry. The two powerhouse vocalists previously captivated audiences with their rendition of “Somewhere” in 2014, a highlight on Streisand’s critically acclaimed Partners album and Groban’s Stages album. Each collaboration, Groban notes, has presented a unique dynamic. “Every time I’ve sung with her has been a different type of song and a different experience,” he elaborated. “And I just try to be a student whenever I’m in the studio with her, because nobody does it like Barbra.”
Groban emphasized that Streisand doesn’t necessarily impart explicit advice, but rather teaches through her unparalleled example. He described observing her meticulous process in the studio, taking note of how “she approaches a song,” and absorbing invaluable lessons simply by watching and listening to the legendary performer at work.
Collaborations on ‘The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume 2’
The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume 2 showcases Streisand’s continued desire to collaborate with diverse talents. The album boasts an impressive roster of musical luminaries, including industry giants such as Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, and Sting, alongside contemporary stars like Hozier, Sam Smith, Seal, Tim McGraw, Laufey, Mariah Carey, and Ariana Grande.
Streisand herself has expressed the joy and inspiration she derives from these partnerships. In a statement released ahead of the album’s debut, she shared, “I’ve always loved singing duets with gifted artists. They inspire me in unique and different ways, and make our time in the studio such a joy!” She added, “My new album, The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two, gave me the chance to work and play with some of my old friends, label mates, and new artists too.”
Josh Groban’s Philanthropic Endeavors
The Only Make Believe Gala, where Groban shared these insights, is a significant charity event that brings interactive theater to children in hospitals and care facilities, an organization Groban has long supported. It provided a fitting backdrop for an artist to express deep admiration for a mentor who continues to inspire and elevate the art of music.
