Lilah’s arduous health battle began when she suffered a seizure at 18 months old, leading to the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 brain cancer. The specific form of her cancer is exceptionally rare and aggressive, with only 58 known cases documented in the U.S. last year. Her treatment plan is intensive and demanding, encompassing the surgical removal of a brain mass, followed by three months of chemotherapy, three months of stem cell treatment, and proton radiation. The radiation therapy alone requires Lilah to spend four weeks at a time in a hospital, often necessitating travel several hours away to a specialized children’s hospital. Since March, her parents, Katelynn and Tyler Smoot, have been dedicatedly fundraising for her critical treatment via GoFundMe.
