Maureen Maguire, Beloved Partner of Ed Kelce, Dies at 74
Longtime Companion of NFL Fathers Jason and Travis Kelce’s Dad Remembered for Her Warmth, Impeccable Taste, and Shared Love for Football
Ed Kelce, the father of NFL superstars Jason and Travis Kelce, is mourning the passing of his cherished partner, Maureen Maguire, who died peacefully at the age of 74. The news was shared by Ed Kelce on his personal Facebook page on Saturday, August 2nd, where he posted a link to Maguire’s obituary, eliciting an outpouring of condolences from friends and fans alike.
Maureen Maguire, a devoted mother, leaves behind three children, six grandchildren, and her brother and sister. The obituary from Stretch Funeral Home in the suburbs of Philadelphia paints a vivid picture of a woman known for her “impeccable taste” and her remarkable ability as a “natural hostess,” often lauded for throwing unforgettable parties filled with “warmth, laughter, and unforgettable food.”
Beyond her domestic prowess, Maguire developed an “unexpected love for football later in life,” a passion she shared deeply with Ed Kelce. Their bond was evident in their shared adventures, frequently traveling to attend football games and concerts, embracing every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest, often accompanied by her loyal dog, Butch.

Maguire also became a part of the expanding Kelce family narrative, particularly as Travis Kelce’s high-profile relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift, 35, brought new attention to the family’s private life. Ed Kelce himself recounted humorous anecdotes involving Maguire and Swift, offering a glimpse into their budding camaraderie.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times in February 2024, Ed shared a lighthearted moment when Maguire, seeing Swift pose for a picture with him, playfully interjected, “Hey, that’s my boyfriend,” to which Swift reportedly laughed. Further illustrating her quick wit and directness, Ed recalled a conversation on Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland in January 2024. Amidst the bustling environment of Travis’s home before a game, where up to 20 friends might gather, Ed admitted to momentarily forgetting Swift’s name. It was Maguire who, with a touch of affectionate exasperation, reminded him: “You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.” These interactions underscore Maureen’s spirited personality and her easy integration into the dynamic Kelce family life.

While Ed Kelce was previously married to Donna Kelce, the mother of Jason, 37, and Travis, for 25 years after tying the knot in the late 1970s, Maureen Maguire was his beloved companion in recent years.
The funeral service for Maureen Maguire will be held on Thursday, August 7th, at St. John Vianney Church in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Penn Heart Transplant Fund, honoring Maureen’s legacy and contributing to a cause close to their hearts. Her passing marks a significant loss for Ed Kelce and all who knew and cherished her vibrant spirit.
